Cpl. Vitali is a dedicated and loving husband, father of two young boys and lives in Southern Vermont.  His passions include spending time with his family, outdoor sports, camping, hunting, mountain biking, motorcycle riding, jeeping, and recreational scuba diving, He is an accomplished jiu jitsu instructor and loves sharing his knowledge with his family and enjoys the art of blade smithing.  

Eric and his family are going to face enormous medical, personal, and financial challenges as a result of his injuries. This has been a life altering event for the entire Vitali family, and they are facing an uncertain future.  The support they have received so far has been overwhelming and appreciated but, that support is going to need to continue well into the future. We ask you to please support Eric and his entire family, with whatever amount you can."

The Vermont Troopers Association (VTA) are working with “HELP A HERO”  ​                                             based in Newport Beach, CA.  They are collecting donations for Vermont State Police Officer, Corporal Eric Vitali  (Processing Fee of > 6%).

The Michael Zemanek Memorial Foundation, Inc. (MZMF) is based in Barre, VT                                                   and is working in concert with the VTA to accept donations for the


Vitali Family.  100% of the donations collected through the MZMF will be given directly to the family of Cpl. Vitali. 

Any size donation is welcome to assist the the Vitali Family either through "Help A Hero" or the “MZMF.  

MZMF - Remembering  Our Children (ROC) Fund

  • Each year during the Christmas Holiday Season, the MZMF remembers children of Sworn VT Law Enforcement Officers who have fallen.  
  • In 2019, trustees of the Albert Rae and Mary Doyle Foundation pledged $10,000 to the MZMF Children's Fund (later renamed the ROC Fund).
  • The MZMF matches $500 with $500 from the ROC Fund and gives each child (<18 yoa), $1,000.
  • We remember the children of:
    • Deputy Sergeant Jason Allen, Rutland County Sheriff’s Department;
    • Trooper Kyle Young, Vermont State Police; and
    • Corporal Dan Marcellus, Vermont State Police
      • (The wife of Cpl. Marcellus donates their son’s gift to children in need in the ​St. Albans area in memory of her husband). 

Since 2014, the Michael Zemanek Memorial Foundation, Inc. has distributed gifts to sworn Vermont Law Enforcement Officers and their families in the amount of $56,577.30.

SELFLESS SERVICE


"On March 8, 2024, Vermont State Police Corporal Eric Vitali was involved in a serious, on duty motor vehicle crash on  Interstate-89 in the town of Bethel, VT.  His cruiser sustained massive front-end damage and severe crushing of the driver’s compartment. Once extracted, he was life flighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. for life threatening, traumatic injuries. These injuries include a traumatic brain injury, fractures to his spine and two femoral fractures.  His condition is critical, and doctors are indicating the next 72 hours will be crucial in determining the outcome of his recovery.  

Eric is a 19-year veteran of the State Police, currently assigned to the Field Force Division at the Royalton barracks and the underwater recovery team. He previously served at the Rockingham and Westminster Barracks and spent several years as a member of the tactical services team. After graduating high school in Old Lyme CT, he served in the United Sates Air Force as a fire fighter, stationed at Travis Airforce base.

 PROVIDES EQUIPMENT TO THE VERMONT POLICE ACADEMY AND VERMONT LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES FOR THE TRAINING AND SAFETY OF ALL VERMONT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AS THEY
